His experience in real estate law, land use, and zoning has positioned him as a key and influential member of the D.C. Bar’s Real Estate Housing, Land Use, and Zoning Steering Committee. Additionally, he has served as a court-appointed receiver and trustee and a qualified expert witness in real estate law before federal and state courts.
Mark’s dedication to education and mentorship is evident in his work as a real estate instructor at Howard University and Strayer College and his contributions as a real estate consultant for the Educational Testing Service. His leadership extends to serving on the Board of Regents at Georgetown University, his alma mater, and holding board positions with multiple financial institutions, including McLaughlin National Bank, Adams National Bank, and Madison National Bank.
A passionate advocate for community engagement, Mark has served as President, General Counsel, and Curator of the Historical Society of Washington, D.C., Chairman of the Board of Managers of the Heurich House Foundation, and Vice President of the Bureau of Rehabilitation of the National Capital Area. He has held leadership roles at Children’s National Hospital, the Cultural Alliance, Chesapeake Children’s Museum, and Leadership Washington. His military background as a former Military Policeman in the Washington National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve further underscores his lifelong commitment to service.
In addition to his legal and civic contributions, Mark is also an author. He wrote Lily Spandorf’s Washington Never More, a historical reflection on the city’s evolution.
